I am very excited to announce CookShop for Adults will be coming to P.S. 132 in the new year!! This will program will consist of a series of six workshops to be held once a month beginning in January and ending in June. Look for additional information regarding registration via email and in your child's folder in mid-January.
**Reminder...School will be closed on Thursday, November 26th and Friday, November 27th for Thanksgiving.

Tuesday, November 24th 6pm to 8pm is our Middle School Information Night for 4th and 5th Grade families.

Student information regarding the ARIS Parent Link went home with your child this week. If you did not receive information or need to know your temporary password, please contact me immediately. Also, if there is incorrect information on your child's profile, please let me know so we can make the corrections.
Cool Culture is once again being offered to our Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten families. Applications are being sent home on Friday, November 13, 2009. Please be sure to fill out the application and return by Friday, November 20, 2009. Late applications will not be accepted!
On Saturday, November 21, 2009, Saturday Parent Academy will be taking place at the Felisa Rincon de Gautier Institute for Law and Public Policy High School located at 1440 Story Avenue, Bronx, N.Y. Harvest Festival and Important Dates
Dear Parents,
I would like to thank everyone for all they did to make our P.S. 132 Harvest Festival a huge success!! It was wonderful to see our school families and community friends enjoying crafts, food and activities such as the Zombie Dance, Corn Maze and Mad Scientist Lab. P.S. 132 truly is the "Shining Star of Williamsburg"!!
The H1N1 vaccination forms were sent home with students. If you would like your child vaccinated in school, please return the form to school by October 30th.
On Election Day, Tuesday, November 3rd, there is no school for students.
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be on Tuesday, November 10th. Children will have a half day of school.
School is closed on Wednesday, November 11th for Veteran's Day.
We will be having our first School Tour on Friday, November 13th at 9:00am. If anyone you know is interested in enrolling their child in our school, please have them call the office to RSVP for the tour.

Just wanted to share some interesting information from the DOE.
The Office for Family Engagement and Advocacy will host Native Language Forums for families starting this month. These forums provide an opportunity for families to learn about important school information in their native language. This month's topics are the Gifted & Talented Process and School Promotion Policies.
Also, Food and Finance High School, located at 525 West 50th Street, is inviting all public school families to their "Taste of the Big Apple" celebration on November 10th. Come celebrate Fall with apple tasting and cooking demonstrations. An Apple computer will be raffled and student volunteers are needed. Please call (212) 374-2323 for further information on both events.

PTA Elections
Nominations for PTA Executive Board positions for the 2009-2010 school year are now being taken. If you would like to help your child's school by serving on the board, please fill out the tear off sent home last week or attend tomorrow night's PTA meeting at 7:00pm in the Auditorium. P.S. 132 Kite Festival
THANK YOU to our P.S. 132 PTA for the wonderful Kite Festival yesterday!!! A huge thank you to all our P.S. 132 families and staff members for volunteering, performing at and attending our event. It was absolutely awesome to see our school community coming together to share a beautiful day in the park flying kites, making crafts, munching on goodies and enjoying the live entertainment!!! Without every one's hard work and support, this event would not have been the success that it was!! Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you!! P.S. 132 truly is "The Shining Star of Williamsburg"!!

Kite Festival
Thanks to everyone who came to the Parent Craft Workshop this week! You accomplished so much with your hard work and crafty talents, but we have more work to do. Please join us again for a craft workshop on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at 8:30am in the Cafeteria. Let's double the fun by bringing a friend to help!!! 2009 Parent School Survey
Our 2009 Parent School Surveys are here! This survey allows parents to anonymously have their voices heard regarding our school and their child's education. They also serve as a valuable resource for school administration and staff to better understand how to serve our school community. Pre-K and Kindergarten Registration 2009
Anyone who interested in applying for Pre-K should go to the DOE website for updates. On the home page, you will see a link for Pre-K information. Click on the link and submit your email information. You will be sent updates from the DOE.
Our Kindergarten pre-regististration is on going. Anyone not currently enrolled in our Pre-K who is interested should come into the Main Office to fill out a form between the hours of 9:00am and 2:00pm. Seats are limited and are filled on a first come basis. Zoned children and those with a sibling attending our school will be given first priority. If you have any questions please contact the Main Office at (718)599-7301.

Playground Surveys
Good news!! Our playground project is progressing. The next phase of the playground planning is a playground survey. This survey is coming home in your child's backpack and should be filled out by you and your child. Your feedback is very important to us so please be sure to send your completed survey back to school. All surveys should be returned by Thursday, January 29, 2009.
